Labonno Chowdhury : The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched a formal investigation against former interim government adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain and three top ministry officials over allegations of accumulating over Tk 40 million (Tk 4.26 crore) in bribes.

ACC spokesperson Akhtarul Islam confirmed that a four-member inquiry team, led by Deputy Director Md Zahid Kalam, has been formed to look into the following specific bribery complaints
Broader Scope of the Investigation :
Beyond the Tk 40 million appointment scam, the ACC team is also investigating allegations concerning procurement syndicate monopolies, tender manipulation within the Department of Youth Development, illegal Bitcoin transactions, and external money laundering.
Reports also suggest the probe will look into illegal benefits allegedly funneled through Asif’s former assistant private secretary (APS), Moazzem Hossain, as well as political interference regarding the formation of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The ACC has received allegations they took “more than Tk 40 million in bribes for against them for promotions and postings in preferred positions” for about 200 Upazila youth development officers and Upazila assistant youth development officers.
On Wednesday, ACC spokesperson Akhtarul Islam told reporters that an investigation has been launched against four people, including a leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP), based on the complaint received by the ACC.
The other three people under investigation in the probe are Youth and Sports Ministry Secretary Md Mahbub-ul-Alam, Joint Secretary Sheikh Mohammad Jobayed Hossain and Youth-1 Branch Deputy Secretary Md Masum Ahmed.
