Gazipur Correspondent: In a daring heist, a group of armed miscreants shot at a private car belonging to a bKash distribution agency and looted approximately ৳3 crore in cash in Sreepur, Gazipur. The incident took place at around 6:30 PM today, Friday (October 9, 2026), in the Karnapur area on the Sreepur-Gosinga regional road. An accounts manager of the agency sustained bullet injuries, while two others, including the driver, were seriously wounded.
The Victims:
The victims are all employees of “Bhaluka Channel Enterprise Limited, Sreepur,” an authorized bKash distribution company:
• Md. Himel (29): Accounts Manager. He sustained a critical bullet wound to the right side of his abdomen.
• Farhad Hossain: Area Manager. He was brutally hacked with a Chinese cleaver (chapatti) and beaten.
• Lal Miah: Private Car Driver. He was severely assaulted by the attackers.
How the Heist Unfolded:
Because Friday is a bank holiday and there was high pressure for garment workers’ salary disbursements, the agency faced a severe cash crunch. To mitigate this, the employees collected ৳4 crore in cash from a bKash distributor in Narsingdi Sadar in exchange for digital balance.
They were returning to Sreepur in a private car with the money packed into bags. When the vehicle reached the Karnapur area, a gang of 10 to 12 miscreants on motorcycles blocked its path. The attackers shattered the car windows with Chinese axes, beat the staff, hacked them with cleavers, and opened fire. According to the agency’s proprietor, Md. Rafiq, the car was carrying ৳4 crore packed in four bags. The bandits managed to flee with three of the bags, containing an estimated ৳3 crore.
Current Status & Medical Condition:
The injured were initially rushed to the Sreepur Upazila Health Complex. Dr. Anik Sarkar, an emergency department physician at the facility, stated, “Three individuals were brought here around 6:30 PM. Himel has a deep wound on the right side of his abdomen, consistent with a gunshot injury. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur for advanced treatment. The other two received primary care.”
Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shahinur Alam confirmed that a police team immediately inspected the scene upon receiving the news. Law enforcement agencies have initiated an investigation and launched a drive to identify and apprehend the criminals.
