PM suspends two Dhaka officials for Eid waste cleanup failure

Labonno Chowdhury : Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered the suspension of two senior regional officials of Dhaka north and south city corporations over alleged negligence in Eid cattle waste removal, as he toured parts of the capital to inspect cleanup operations.The officials are Mohammad Sadekur Rahman, regional executive officer (Zone-5) of DNCC, and Kazi Saleh Mustanjir, regional executive officer (Zone-1) of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

The directive came as the premier himself drove through several areas of Dhaka on Friday, the second day of Eid-ul-Azha, to monitor the city’s condition.He left his Gulshan residence around 2pm and passed through Rampura, Malibagh, Basabo and Kamalapur.He later travelled via Sayedabad, Jatrabari, Dholai Khal, Narinda, Bangshal, Gulistan, Shahbagh and New Market, before continuing through Jigatola, Dhanmondi, Farmgate, Bijoy Sarani and Mohakhali.

State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam said, “The prime minister went out to observe development projects in the capital and cattle waste management. He expressed dissatisfaction at several locations where waste had not been cleared.”He added that Tarique ordered the immediate suspension of the two officials after seeing accumulated waste at Hatirjheel, Elephant Road, Green Road, Farmgate and Karwan Bazar.“They have been temporarily suspended and attached to the public administration ministry, and departmental action has been ordered for negligence of duty,” he said.

PM Takes the Wheel to Inspect Dhaka Cleanup

In a rare and unprecedented move, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman personally took the wheel on Friday afternoon to inspect post-Eid-ul-Azha sacrificial waste removal operations across the capital, resulting in the immediate suspension of two top city corporation officials for gross negligence.The Unannounced Inspection TourThe Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary, Jahidul Islam Roni, told Daily our justice that the Prime Minister departed his Gulshan Avenue residence at around 4:00 PM, driving his own vehicle to assess the ground realities of the cleanup drive.

According to eyewitnesses and official sources, the Prime Minister strictly adhered to standard traffic signals as he navigated a massive route through the city. His self-driven tour spanned across Gulshan-1, Hatirjheel, Rampura, Malibagh, Basabo, Kamalapur Stadium, Sayedabad, Jatrabari, Dholaikhal, Narinda, and the old Dhaka court area.The extensive inspection continued through Naya Bazar, Bangshal, Gulistan, Shahbagh, Elephant Road, the Dhaka University campus, New Market, Science Laboratory, Kalabagan, Mirpur Road, Jigatola, Dhanmondi, Manik Mia Avenue, Panthapath, Farmgate, Bijoy Sarani, and Mohakhali.
