Consequently, the number of gas-powered buses, CNG auto-rickshaws, and app-based ride-sharing vehicles—such as Uber and Pathao—has dropped drastically on the streets. This acute transport shortage has caused immense suffering for regular citizens trying to reach their daily destinations.

Taking advantage of the situation, auto-rickshaws and ride-sharing cars are charging exorbitant fares, multiplying standard rates several times over.
