Thakurgaon’s Dream Begins: President Launches New University!

 

 

The state-funded institution of higher education is slated for development across an expanse of 86 acres of land. Speaking during the inauguration proceedings, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir noted that the establishment of the university fulfills a pledge made by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

 

 

Thakurgaon Reporter : A new era of modern and inclusive higher education has officially begun in northern Bangladesh. On Monday (September 7), President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir laid the foundation stone for the long-awaited Thakurgaon University during his historic first official visit to his hometown. Emphasizing academic excellence, the President urged the institution to transform into a global hub for knowledge, research, and innovation rather than operating as a mere certificate distribution center.

An official communique issued by Bangabhaban verified that the foundation-laying event took place inside the Jamalpur zone situated in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.The state-funded institution of higher education is slated for development across an expanse of 86 acres of land. Govt Issues Gazette to Provide Monthly Stipends and Allowances for Imams, Priests “University is not merely an institution of higher studies. It should be centre of knowledge, research, innovation and human resource development,” he stated. He shared expectations that Thakurgaon University will emerge as a contemporary hub for premier higher education across the northern region of the country, while fulfilling a vital function in generating proficient, capable, and compassionate individuals dedicated to national progress.

Following the cornerstone placement, the head of state offered a Munajat, praying for the comprehensive advancement and success of the academic institution.He appealed to all relevant authorities to finalize the building operations inside the designated timeframe whilst strictly upholding construction standards.The President underscored the imperative of championing a politics rooted in mutual tolerance rather than hostility and opposition in order to foster a tranquil society.

Among those in attendance at the ceremony were Disaster and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad, University Grants Commission Chairman Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Thakurgaon University Vice-Chancellor Mohammad Israfil, alongside various high-ranking officials.
